Winter will be celebrated in Rotorua with the arrival of O ROCK obstacle run, taking place on Sunday 23rd June 2019.
O ROCK Rotorua is a fitness obstacle course event that combines off-road terrain and obstacles.
The obstacle course includes climbing over parked cars, fences and containers, sliding down fireman poles, crawling under nets, jumping over and under walls while running over a combination of dirt paths, grass fields, beach sand and foot paths.
The event offers three distance options: the 5km, 10km Extreme, and 3km kids for 9-13 year olds.
The event is taking place at Hannahs Bay Reserve and will contribute towards the Hannahs Bay pest control Program by giving a donation to the board after the event.
Event director Tim Farmer said he wanted to bring O ROCK to an Urban space in Rotorua.
“Most events in Rotorua are in the Forest and it is cool to bring O ROCK to an urban green space that the people of Rotorua can engage with"
“It is rewarding to bring a new event to my hometown for the people of Rotorua to enjoy.”
He said the Winter aspect of the event encourages participants to stay fit and healthy while maintaining a good wellbeing throughout the colder months.
“It is a social event, it’s about going out and having a blast with your mates and other members of the community”
Entries are open and include a finisher medal, a chance to win spot prizes, a finish line beverage and a goodie bag. Entries are limited to the first 1000.
O ROCK is suitable for a range of abilities and is about getting out there and having fun while maintaining fitness.
